The Mountain Home Tigers girls and boys doubles team found the going tough at state, although the girls doubles team did pick up a win.

First-year tennis players Amy Hymer and Chandler Cain had the dubious honor of opening against the number one seeded team and defending state champions Baker and Ball from Hillcrest. The Hillcrest team took it to Hymer and Cain, 6-1, 6-0. Baker and Ball went on to repeat as doubles champions.

That put Hymer and Cain in the consolation bracket, where they next played Gunter and Nolte from Century, beating them, 6-0, 7-5. They then faced the team of Levy-Pennington from Moscow, and lost to them, 0-6, 3-6, to be eliminated from the tourney.

"It was pretty exciting to watch Amy and Chandler play," said Tiger tennis coach Tamzy House. "The did wonderful, just got out-skilled by more experience. Amy and Chandler picked up a racquet for the first time the end of February when the season started, and they made state and won a match at state -- pretty awesome."

The Mountain Home boys doubles team of Keth Galloway and Greg Walsh opened against Meservy and Higley from Jerome, and lost, 1-6, 2-6. That put Galloway and Walsh in the consolation bracket where they faced Hendricks and Howell from Pocatello, and lost to them in three sets to be eliminated from the tournament.
