Dear editor:

Recognizing stars who aren't athletes is a thing a lot of people fail to do. Thank you.

However, as the Mountain Home News Editor-in-Chief, the journalism/yearbook programs should be of particular interest to you. Students from Ms. Sue Martin's program have/will go on to do just as great of things as the speech and debate students will.

The MHHS journalism/yearbook program took first place for the sixth year in a row this year at the journalism state competition. For over 20 years, Ms. Martin has been producing talented teachers, writers, and photographers who all have been on the MHHS journalism/yearbook staff.

The journalism program as you, the editor, would know, puts in hours upon hours (I would claim more than any other extracurricular activity puts in) of out of class time to produce the quality newspaper and yearbook students bring home.

MHHS Tiger Tribune reporters also often write stories for the Mountain Home News regarding school events. Most recently, a story about Mr. MHHS featured in the Mountain Home News was written by Dani Lord, Editorial Editor for the Tiger Tribune.

I realize you cannot name every extra-curricular program the high school offers, but the yearbook/newspaper program works with Mountain Home News often and doesn't seem to get as much publicity and recognition from the MHN as I believe they should.

Rebecca Smith

p.s. The MHHS Speech and Debate team thanks you for all of the recognition you give them.
