Four Mountain Home Tiger tennis members -- two girls and two boys have advanced to this week's State 4A Tennis Tournament in Boise.

The Mountain Home boys doubles team of Keth Galloway and Greg Walsh, who went in the district tourney seeded second, won their quarter-final and semi-final matches to make it to the district championship match against Skyview. They fought hard, but came up short, 4-6, 4-6, to finish second at district.

"This is the first time a Tigers boys team has ever competed in a district championship match," said Tiger tennis coach Tamzy House.

"They took on Skyview, the number one seed and gave them a hard-hitting exciting match."

Amy Hymer and Chandler Cain, also qualified for state in the girls doubles. The two finished fifth at the district tourney.

"That's a great accomplishment, especially since they only started playing tennis this past February at the start of the season," said Coach House.

The State 4A Tennis Championships will be Friday and Saturday in Boise at the Boise Racquet and Swim Club as the main site, with Borah High School and Capital High School as additional sites.

The girls doubles will be playing their initial rounds at Capital High School, and the boys doubles will open at Borah High School. Semi-final and championship matches will be at the Boise Racquet and Swim Club on Saturday.
