William L. Murray has announced his candidacy for the Zone 4 Trustee position on the Mountain Home School Board.

Murray is being challenged by C.D. Houston for the position currently held by Jo Gridley, who has decided not to seek re-election.

In Zone 2, the other board position up for election, incumbent Luise House is not facing a challenge. Based on state law, the district has declared her to be elected and no election will be held.

The school board election will be held May 19. The only polling site will be the school district office at 470 N. 3rd East St. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Only voters in the zones up for election are eligible to vote. If you are unsure of your zone, contact the district office at 587-2580. Absentee ballots are available beginning today at the district office.

In announcing his candidacy, Murray said he hopes to bring "fresh and new ideas" to the school board. "I don't have any agenda," he said, but he wants to "open the lines of communications between the community and the school district."
