Mountain Home Tiger tennis teams end busy week with lone victory

In a busy week of tennis with three matches, the Mountain Home Tiger boys tennis team managed a win and the girls nearly did.

The Tigers hosted Emmett in a conference tennis match at the airbase courts last Monday.

Brittany Ryan picked up the Tiger girls only win, winning the #1 singles match, 6-1, 6-2. Natalie Lasher lost a tough three-setter in the #2 singles match, 6-1, 5-7, 4-6, and Jennifer Loomis lost the #3 singles match, 1-6, 3-6.

The Mountain Home girls doubles team lost two close matches.

Amy Hymer and Chandler Cain lost the #1 doubles match, 4-6, 6-7 (TB 5-7), and Allyanna Wintermote and Danielle Gorman lost, 3-6, 6-4, 4-6.

Mountain Home lost both mixed doubles matches. Bryan Wheeler and Ali Draper lost the #1 match, 4-6, 0-6, and Drew Guyer and Bridget Sinerius lost at #2, 2-6, 2-6.

Ross Pataro picked up a win in the #3 boys singles, winning in three, 6-0, 3-6, 6-3. Andrew Martin lost a tough three setter at #1 singles, 3-6, 6-4, 1-6. Chris Oswald lost the #2 boys singles match, 3-6, 3-6.

The Tiger boys' other win came in the #1 doubles match, when Keth Galloway and Greg Walsh won, 6-3, 6-4.

"Monday's match was a key match to win for district seeding," said Tiger tennis coach Tamzy House. "It put Keth and Greg's conference record at 4-1, losing only to Skyview, with Bishop Kelly yet to be played."

In the other boys doubles match, Jarod Mott and Tomas Garza lost, 5-7, 0-6.

The Tigers traveled to Burley last Wednesday where the Mountain Home girls almost pulled off a win, losing, 3-4, while the Tiger boys lost, 1-6.

Mountain Home swept the girls singles matches, with Brittany Ryan blanking her Burley #1 singles opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Natalie Lasher won the #2 singles match, 6-0, 6-0, and Danielle Lord won her first match of the season at #3, 6-4, 6-3.

Mountain Home dropped both girls doubles matches, as Amy Hymer and Chandler Cain lost the #1 doubles match in three, 6-1, 5-7, 1-6, and Allyanna Wintermote and Danielle Gorman lost the #2 match, 4-6, 0-6.

The Tigers lost both boys doubles matches. Keth Galloway and Greg Walsh lost the #1 doubles match in three close sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (TB 5-7). Chris Oswald and Collin Smith dropped the #2 doubles match, 2-6, 1-6.

Senior Day for Tiger tennis was held at the airbase courts on April 30, with the 12 seniors honored. In the matches, the Tiger girls lost 2-5, the boys won, 5-2.

Mountain Home's two wins in the girls match came in the doubles matches, where Amy Hymer and Chandler Cain won at #1, 6-0, 6-0, and Allyanna Wintermote and Danielle Gorman won at #2, 6-2, 6-1.

In girls singles, Natalie Lasher lost the #1 match, 1-6, 0-6, Bethany Johns lost at #2, 2-6, 2-6, and Jennifer Loomis lost at #3, 0-6, 3-6.

In mixed doubles, Drew Guyer and Bridget Sinerius lost at #1, 2-6, 5-7, and Frankie Wenner and Daniella Stratton lost at #2, 2-6, 5-7.

Mountain Home swept the boys singles matches, Andrew Martin winning the #1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, Bryan Wheeler won at #2, 6-0, 6-2, and Chris Austin at #3, got his first singles win, 6-2, 6-2.

Mountain Home also swept the boys doubles matches. Keth Galloway and Greg Walsh won the #1 doubles match, 7-5, 6-2, and Chris Oswald and Collin Smith won at #2, 6-3, 6-1.

"It was a great week of tennis," said Coach House. The boys team got a win against Minico on Senior Day, and the girls team almost pulled out a win against Burley. The week also saw a third of the individual matches go to three sets, a clear sign that the team members are increasing in skill and becoming more competitive. "I am very proud of their effort and accomplishments!"

The Tigers closed out their regular season schedule Monday against Bishop Kelly. They open District III 4A Tennis Tournament play on Thursday in Nampa.
