Wednesday, May 6, 2009

The Mountain Home High School Tiger tennis team will host its annual two-week Summer Tennis Camp next month.

The camp is open for children ages 4-14 at the Richard Aguirre Park tennis courts, starting June 1 and ending June 12.

Tiger head tennis coach Tamzy House and JV tennis coach Mandy Leonard will run the camp, assisted by several of the Tiger tennis team members.

The camp is structured into 10 progressive lessons over 10 days, Coach House explained. "The lessons are designed for particular age groups and they follow the U.S. Tennis Association's Quickstart/Little Tennis program guidelines."

House indicated separate sessions have been set up for four different age groups to provide age appropriate tennis instruction, so that tennis "fun-damentals" can be enjoyed by all.

Session 1 (8:30-9:30 a.m.) is for 4- to 5-year-olds.

Session 2 (9:45-10:45 a.m.) is for 6- to 7-year-olds.

Session 3 (11 a.m.-noon) is for 8- to 10-year-olds.

Session 4 (1-2 p.m.) is for 11- to 14-year-olds.

Cost of Sessions 1, 2 and 3 is $45, which includes 10 hours of instruction, a T-shirt and a certificate.

Session 4 costs $75 includes 15 hours of instruction, T-shirt and certificate.

Registration is being taken at the high school office. For more information, call House at 590-0739.
