Deputy injured in traffic stop

Saturday, May 2, 2009

At approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday evening, an Elmore County Deputy made a traffic stop on a man later identified as Russell Scott Andrews Jr.

During the stop, Andrews got out of the vehicle to speak with the deputy. He then jumped back into the vehicle and the deputy attempting to stop him from driving away, was dragged by the vehicle 1/2 a block.

Approximately ten minutes later deputies located Andrews and while attempting to place him in custody, he resisted their efforts. At this time Andrews is charged with multiple counts of battery on a law enforcement officer.

He is currently being housed at the Elmore County Jail.

The deputy sustained road rash injuries.
