For local NASCAR fans, the Talladega 'Aaron's 499' race in Alabama will be remembered for more than just the amazing crashes and the winner.

From Mountain Home Air Force Base was the 390th Fighter Squadron "Wild Boars" F-15 jets that provided a fly-over formation just prior to the race. Reed Sorenson, who drives the sponsored Air Force #43 NASCAR car, was given a courtesy ride in a F-15 at Tyndall Air Force Base earlier this year.

Who knows what is store this weekend, but the next race will be at Richmond the 'Russ Friedman 400', Saturday, May 2.

  • I love the Star Spangled Banner and the fly over. That is about my favorite part of Nascar.

The race is good to but I especially like the fly over. It was great to see MHAFB there.
