Special Olympics golf opens

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

The Special Olympics Golf schedule is set to start on May 7 at the Desert Canyon Golf Course.

Rob and Wayne at the golf course will be working with the athletes throughout the summer season. Applications will be given out on May 7 for each athlete. The applications will be filled out by each parent or guardian and returned. For an athlete to be qualified for the event, they must have intellectual disabilities. Ages 8 through 106 are qualified to participate in the event.

The schedule starts May 7 at 6 p.m. (meeting only). Lessons will begin on May 14 through June 25, every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. (weather permitting). Each evening will last approximately one hour or a little longer.

Parents or guardians and other adults are welcome to participate in helping the athletes, and can be qualified as a coach. We can always use volunteers. Participants who do not have transportation, should call Kathy Wudyka at 587-9258 or Geri McCoy at 587-7347, who also can answer any questions about the program.
