Youth Week

Mountain Home Mayor Tom Rist signed a proclamation on Monday, declaring the first week of May to be "Youth Week" in the city of Mountain Home.

Rist was joined by Bill Thurber, Exalted Ruler of Mountain Home Elk's Lodge #2276, Dusty Backham, Leading Knight for Post #2276 and Larry Fincher, Lecturing Knight/Youth and Hoop Shoot Chairman.

"We hope to encourage more youths to participate in our programs and the programs that the city has to offer," said Thurber following the proclamation signing.

The week will feature a Youth Banquet at the American Legion Hall where the winners of such events as the Hoop Shoot, Soccer Shoot and essay contests sponsored by the Elks Lodge will be presented their awards.

Great idea having a Youth Week in Mountain Home!

Interesting that the picture doesn't match the subject? I'd surround the Mayor with the "youth" of the city for this picture.

Not saying the people in the picture aren't youthful but obviously I would expect High School students and younger to be featured.
