Relay for Life team plans fundraising 'Purple Picnic' April 25 at Legacy Park

Relay for Life team Run Amuck has raised $315 as part of its ongoing fundraising effort benefitting the American Cancer Society.

Team members gathered items and accepted donations from friends and neighbors for a yard sale held on Saturday, April 18. Bringing top dollar for the cause was a complete free weight set donated by Brian and Kallie Dean and an elliptical trainer donated by Adrion and William Bell.

"My garage is finally clean," said Run Amuck team member, Laura Marcucci. "I'm so glad I could do something good with all this stuff. A lot of it may have just been thrown out but now someone else can use it."

The fundraising continues, as team members sell admission cups for their next event, Purple Picnic, from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, at the pavilion by the duck pond in Legacy Park. Red souvenir cups can be purchased for $5 each and come with all-you-can-eat food and non-alcoholic beverages. Purple souvenir cups are $10 each, and include all-you-can-eat food and "bottomless beer."

Fifty-Fifty raffle tickets are available at one for $1 or six for $5. Half of all money raised by selling raffle tickets will be given to the drawing winner and the remaining half will be included in Team Run Amuck's fundraising total.

A dessert auction is also planned as part of the Purple Picnic festivities. Any donations of cakes, pies, cookies or sweet treats are welcome and highly encouraged.

There will be a bounce house set up for the younger attendees in addition to various activities for all ages, including horse-shoes and a football scrimmage.

Anyone who would like to attend the Purple Picnic should contact Adrion Bell at 580-9453 or email AdrionBell@hotmail.com to reserve your cups.
