Astronomy group plans star night

Thursday, April 23, 2009

A new astronomy club, the Mountain Home Stargazers, is being formed in Mountain Home and will hold its next star party at Legacy Park's soccer fields beginning at dusk on April 25 and again on May 23.

The group is primarily designed for those relatively new to the hobby of astronomy, although those with more experience are being encouraged to show up in order to help mentor the newcomers. "It's for those who want to get started, even if they only have a pair of binoculars," said Garry Swatzel, who along with Carl Stanley is helping organize the group.

Swatzel said the club will try to stay as informal as possible "without any officers or rigamorole. We want people to enjoy it."

Anyone interested in learning more about the new stargazing group should call Swatzel at 863-8762.
