Poaching witnesses sought

Thursday, April 9, 2009

Fish and Game Conservation Officer Bob Sellers is asking that two witnesses who saw a turkey being taken illegally out of season to contact him.

Sellers was patrolling in the Indian Rock area of the South Fork below Anderson Ranch Dam when he came across two men with a black dog who told him they had just seen a man shoot a turkey and pointed out a truck being driven away from the area.

Sellers immediately gave chase to the truck and eventually arrested Wade Finneman and charged him taking a turkey in a closed season.

But Sellers didn't have time to stop and get the names of the witnesses. He is asking those individuals to either call him directly, at 587-1644, or call the Citizens Against Poaching hotline at 1-800-632-5999 "and I'll get to them, so I can get a witness statement," he said.
