Anita Beatriz Diaz Lindley

Born May 30, 1918.

Anita passed away on March 30, 2009. She lived a long life and was cherished by many, both family and friends.

Anita was born in a sheep camp near Mackay, Idaho, on May 30, to Emilio and Beatriz Etchevarria Diaz. Her father and mother were from Lekeitio in the Basque region of Spain. They immigrated to the United States and started a family in the Mountain Home area. Anita was the only daughter. She had

three brothers. Unfortunately her mother was killed in a fire when Anita was three years old. At that point the family was broken up and the children went to live with relatives and god-parents.

Her three brothers; Pedro, Ramon and Avel Diaz preceded her in death.

Anita eventually moved to eastern Oregon where she married Joe Laucirica. They had three children, Joseph died in infancy. This marriage ended in divorce.

She married Elliott Lindley whom she met in Andrews, Ore., in 1939. Elliott was from Macon, Mo., and they moved there to begin their life. They moved between Idaho Falls and Macon a number of times over the years. They had four children. They eventually moved permanently to Idaho Falls in 1959.

They lived many years across from Kate Curley Park.

Her husband Elliott died in 2004. They were married for 66 years.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Joan Laucirica Cecil and her son Daryl Drew Lindley.

She is survived by her son Leon Laucirica, who resides in Welches, Ore., with his wife Keiko. Daughter Elaine Lindley Weber lives in Macon, Mo., with her husband Glennen Weber. Daughter Jacqulyn Lindley Przybys lives in Hull, Mass., with her life partner, David Gemma. Her son Elliott Raye Lindley currently resides in Idaho Falls. Anita had six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Anita loved her Basque heritage. She enjoyed dancing the jota, and cooking many traditional Basque foods. She was also noted baking pies, breads, and cookies. The cookie jar was always full. She also enjoyed playing the piano.

She will be missed by all her knew her for her caring and happy outlook on life.
