Pine woman dies in horse riding accident in Emmett

Monday, April 6, 2009

Pine resident Debra Joost, 54, was killed in an accidental fall from a horse Sunday in Emmett.

Deputies say she was riding a horse when a nearby chainsaw turned on, spooked the horse and she was bucked off. She was in the area to see about purchasing a horse.

EMTs and LifeFlight personnel, both of which had arrived quickly on the scene, worked on Joost but she was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The actual cause of death was not immediately released by authorities.

  • Very sad. God bless her family. Was on a "test ride" before she purchased the horse as a surprise for her husband. How sad.
