JV Tiger boys lose two conference games

The Mountain Home Tigers came up short in their JV conference boys basketball games last week, losing at home and on the road.

Middleton 61

A fourth quarter rally by the Tigers proved to be too little, too late, as the Tiger JV lost to Middleton 61-48 Friday night in boys basketball action in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.

Middleton hit three treys in the first quarter as they shot to a 17-10 lead after one, and outscored the Tigers 20-10 in the second quarter to take a 37-20 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Vikings extended their lead with 23 points in the third, to lead the Tigers 60-36 heading into the fourth.

Mountain Home limited the Vikings to just one point in the fourth, but fell short, 61-48.

Aaron Hobbs led the Tigers with 14 points, Damian Soliz added 11 and Cody Ramos hit for 10. Tom Hennessey added seven points, James Simon four, and Anthony Castillo two.

Nampa 45

The Tigers fell behind early, and tried to rally in the fourth quarter. but fell short, losing to the Nampa Bulldogs 45-41 Saturday night at Nampa.

Mountain Home trailed 15-9 after a quarter and 24-18 at the half. It was 35-29 Nampa after three quarters. The Tigers managed to come within one, 39-38 on a trey by Anthony Castillo with 2:42 left in the game, but that would be as close as they would get, falling 45-41.

Cody Ramos and Anthony Castillo both scored in double figures at Nampa. Ramos led the way with 15 points, Castillo added 13, Aaron Hobbs and Damian Soliz both scored four, Drew Hopkins had three and Jordan Warila scored two points.
