"The Music Man" set at MHJHS

The junior high school's Act Out Theatre Company will be performing "The Music Man" on Feb. 20, 21, 27, and 28 at 7 p.m. at the junior high.

Tickets can be purchased at the Junior high office during school and at Mulberry Place, 1140 Airbase Rd., during business hours Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The musical production "The Music Man" is a story of a traveling con man, Harold Hill, played by Clint Butori, who sells musical instruments and band uniforms after convincing them that they need a band to keep their kids out of trouble. But Marion, the librarian and local piano teacher, played by Ami Carlos, poses a threat to expose him.

This is the third year of producing a musical for the Act Out Theatre Company.

"It takes a huge amount of time and dedication from everyone participating in a production this size and the students have definitely given their all," said Artistic Director Julie Vogl.

Last year's "Good News" nearly sold out crowd all three nights.

"We have added a fourth night to this year's performance schedule and we anticipate selling out again this year, so be sure to get your tickets early," Vogl said.

The director, Pam Zielke is an English teacher at the junior, and the advisor for the school's "Act Out Theatre Company." The assistant director and choreographer is Emily Jensen. Music director and vocal coach is Laura Schnider. High school students also volunteer on the production team. Chelsea Jackson is the producer, Amanda Sams is the stage manager, Laurel Curtis and Becky Vogl are student directors. There are a number of parents who are helping in various capacities with the show as well, from costumes to concessions.
