Students lead food drive

Wednesday, December 24, 2008

The Mountain Home Junior High School Leadership class sponsored a school-wide food drive Dec. 2-17. Students managed to collect well over 2,000 items, which were donated to needy families throughout the community.

The class collecting the most items was rewarded with a doughnut party, but in the spirit of the season, the students of Mrs. Zielke's 3rd hour English class instead donated the money for the party to another school fundraiser to help pay the medical bills for one of their classmates.

  • That's amazing! I wonder how much our district collected together? West's Student Council organized a drive w/ over 1000 items!

    Go kids-you all are awesome!

  • I know North collected a ton too- they did a huge display in the lobby for all the kids to see just before Christmas break- Not sure on the count but by the looks of it I would definitley say around 1500 maybe more... The students and staff did an awesome job helping others in our community!!

I love to see our youth understand how well they have it, and want to help others. There is always someone less fortunate, and this is a simple way to let kids learn some compassion.
