Nancy Martin

The Western Elmore County Recreation District recently named Nancy Martin as its Volunteer of the Year.

Martin helps staff the office on a volunteer basis at least one or two days a week.

"We're just lucky to have her," commented WECRD secretary Judy Erwin. "She is so capable and a delight to have around."

Previously, Nancy donated her time in community service by working at the Desert Mountain Visitors Center and at North Elementary where she helped young readers hone their skills. Nancy is an avid reader herself and in fitting with her penchant for reading, she also is a prolific writer. She prefers to write children's books, poetry and short stories. Several items by her were published in the Idaho Centennial edition of Idaho Nuggets.

Besides being active with volunteering, she has family here to keep her occupied. A native of Pennsylvania, Nancy has lived in Mountain Home for 46 years, and three of her five children live here.

  • I have seen this fine lady around town is she is quite nice; any group would fare better with her involved. My feelings about the WECRD board actions are quite separate from my regard for her and a couple others there.
