Lady Tigers JV loses two games

The Mountains Home Lady Tigers JV basketball team picked up one win in three games last week.

Bishop Kelly 43

Mtn. Home 30

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers JV squad rallied in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late, as Bishop Kelly prevailed 43-30 last Tuesday night in their conference opener in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium.

Mountain Home trailed just 9-6 after a quarter but failed to score in the second quarter as Bishop Kelly increased their lead to 26-6 at the half. It was 35-15, Bishop Kelly, heading into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Tigers went on an 11-0 run to start the fourth quarter to come within nine, 35-26, with 5:05 left, but Bishop Kelly brought their starters back in to hold off the Lady Tigers 43-30.

Trista Stepp led Mountain Home in scoring with seven points, Amanda Osborn, Arlene Futch, and Jessica Liercke each had six, Keesha Janis, three, and Jennica Quintal, two.

Middleton 42

Mountain Home was outscored 19-2 in the middle two quarters Thursday night at Middleton, as they fell to the Lady Vikings 42-14 in conference girls basketball.

The Lady Tigers led briefly in the first quarter and trailed 11-7 after a quarter. They failed to score in the second quarter and trailed 24-7 at the half. They managed just two points in the third to trail 30-9 heading into the fourth quarter.

Jessica Liercke led Mountain Home in scoring with five points, Trista Stepp added four, Amanda Osborn and Arlene Futch both scored two, and Jennica Quintal had one point.

Mtn. Home 29

Jerome 26

Mountain Home returned to the win column Saturday at Jerome, beating the Jerome JV 29-26.

Mountain Home led, 8-6, after a quarter but trailed 16-15 at the half. It was 24-20, Jerome after three. Mountain Home scored nine while limiting Jerome to just two in the final eight minutes to win 29-26.

Trista Stepp led Mountain Home with 10 points, Jessica Liercke added nine. Jennica Quintal scored five, Arlene Futch had four, and Fatima Guillen scored one to round out the scoring.
