Tigers JV boys lose two games

The Mountain Home Tiger JV boys basketball team let one get away from them last week when they dropped their season opener to Mountain View, 52-51, in overtime.

The Tigers shot out to a 20-7 lead after a quarter but Mountain View battled back to within three, 26-23, at the half.

The Mavericks took the lead in the third and led 36-33 heading into the fourth quarter.

Mountain Home regained the lead, 42-41, on a trey by Anthony Castillo with 3:38 left in regulation. Cody Ramos scored with 1:05 left to push the lead to three, 44-41, but a basket and free throw by Mountain View with 37 seconds left tied the game at 44-44. Neither team could then get a shot to drop and the game went into overtime.

Mountain Home fell behind in the overtime period but battled back to go ahead, 48-47, when Tyler Wright hit one of two free throws with 1:20 left.

After the Mavericks regained the lead, Damian Soliz canned a trey with 28 seconds remaining to put the Tigers up 51-49 but Mountain View hit a trey with 14 seconds left to put the Mavericks up 52-51.

Mountain Home was not able to get a shot off before the final buzzer went off.

Brock Morris led the Tigers in scoring with 18 points, Anthony Castillo added nine. Tom Hennessey scored seven points, Cody Ramos and Tyler Wright both had six, and Damian Soliz five.

Timberline 59

The Tigers were outscored 36-16 in the middle two quarters Friday night as they lost at Timberline,59-46.

The first quarter went back and fourth, with Timberline up 12-9 after a quarter.

Mountain Home managed just six points in the second quarter to go into the locker room down 26-15 at the half.

A 22-11 third quarter advantage put the Mavericks up 48-26 after three. Their biggest lead was 51-26, with 7:25 left. The Tigers went on a 20-8 run to the end, cutting the margin to a 59-46 final.

Anthony Castillo and Brock Morris both scored 20 points, Damian Soliz had eight, Tyler Wright and Cody Ramos, six each, Drew Hopkins, four, and David Bitrick scored two.
