Library celebrates 100 years of service

Thursday, November 20, 2008

In recognition of the 100th birthday of the beginning of library services in Mountain Home, the current Mountain Home Public Library organized a special open house on Saturday afternoon to recall the years of service that began when the Carnegie Library (now the museum) was first opened.

The theme for the event was, "Traveling Through The Decades: 100 years of Library Service."

The celebration was a follow up to the recent centennial groundbreaking celebration of the old Carnegie Library in June. Five months later the library, the first and oldest permanent public building in the city, opened its doors to its patrons, which was what Saturday's event celebrated.
