Remember to shop locally

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

The holiday season is upon us, and because of the current state of the economy, many of us will be scaling back on this year's purchases.

The reduction in spending has already started hitting many of our local merchants hard.

I would ask that when you do your shopping this year, you remember those businesses that have given so much to the Mountain Home community.

Local businesses support opportunities for our children through parks and rec by sponsoring t-ball, soccer, last month's safe Halloween party and many other programs.

Also, remember those businesses that contribute to school activites such as choir and band trips, football, basketball, volleyball, etc.

Businesses support scouting, 4-H and Optimist programs. They donate to DARE, Elmore County Domestic Violence Council, Cheer Basket, Giving Tree, Annual Airman's Cookie Drive, senior center, Great Basin Blues Festival, summer concert series and many other organizations, activities and causes.

The Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors would like to encourage everyone to show their appreciation to our many generous businesses by shopping locally.
