MHHS debate team earns top honors at Whitman contest

The Mountain Home High School Talkin' Tigers Speech and Debate team turned in an "outstanding" performance at the Whitman College Speech and Debate Tournament last weekend at Walla Walla, Wash.

The Talkin' Tigers were second among the 49 participating schools in Speech and 4th overall in the combined Speech and Debate standings.

The finish was the best ever for Mountain Home in the largest speech and debate tournament in the northwest.

The Tigers scored 290 points in speech to finish second to Gig Harbor, Wash. (405). Sam Barlow High School (Gresham, Ore.) was tied for third with Mountain View from Idaho with 185 points. Overall, Mountain Home finished behind Gig Harbor, Mountain View and Eagle.
