Don't litter, recycle

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Dear editor:

I would like to encourage everyone to not litter. Today, Oct. 6, I found a glass beer bottle and a bag with cigarette butts, an empty cigarette package and an empty box that had contained a hair clipper set. Also in the bag were seven parts that go with the clipper. There was even a receipt dated Oct.5. I brought them home as they were left on the curb right near East Elementry school.

What if that glass bottle got broken? Children might have gotten hurt.

Please, whoever left it there do not do anything like that again. I put the cardboard box in my recycling. I hope everyone in town will recycle all paper, tin cans, plastic and newspapers.

It is so easy now you just put everything in the blue bin. Then put it out on the curb on your trash day and the city will pick it up. What could be easier. You do not even have to separate it anymore. It helps our environment and keeps things out of the landfill, which we could run out of.

They say even if we just recycle the Sunday paper it could save a tree. I have very little trash because I recycle everything that can be recycled. We cannot recycle glass yet but I save it as they will be able to recycle it soon. They recycle it in California where I used to live.

Please everyone, DO NOT LITTER BUT RECYCLE.
