Search and rescue finds body of Nampa man Friday

Monday, November 3, 2008

The body of a 30-year-old Nampa man was found in the Cat's Creek summit area Friday, following a search by Elmore County deputies and search and rescue personnel.

Nicholas Allen Gould, 30, had been reported missing on Monday, Oct. 27, from his Nampa home. On Tuesday, an attempt to locate bulletin was sent to law enforcement agencies throughout the region. The ATL indicated he had been suffering from mental problems and may not have been taking his medication.

On Thursday, the Elmore County Sheriff's Office was notified that a vehicle had been seen parked on the roadside at milepost 120 on Highway 20 for two days.

When deputies responded they found a the vehicle, which matched the ATL information. A passenger-side window had been broken, with most of the glass inside the vehicle, and blood was found in and near the vehicle. Authorities began a search of the area but the search had to be called off that night due to darkness. The next morning, deputies and search and rescue personnel accompanied by special rescue dogs, resumed the search and Gould's body was found about a quarter of a mile away from his vehicle at the bottom of a cliff.

According to Det. Clint Andrus of the Elmore County Sheriff's Office, it appeared Gould had tried to climb the steep hillside/cliff in the area, and had slipped and fallen. It is not known when he died of his injuries. Cuts on his hands indicated he may have been the person who broke the window on his vehicle.

No foul play is suspected.

  • Our hearts are saddened,

You will be forever remembered dear Nick. We know you are at peace now with our Father in heaven. We are so grateful that we got to spend time with you reminiscing about the past and looking forward to our eternal future. You always will have a special place in our hearts. We saw the love of the Lord in your eyes and now you can see Him face to face. We will miss you Nick but we know we will see you again some day. Till then we have so many memories, pictures you painted, music you made. Nick , God gave you such talent and we enjoyed you so much and are so thankful that we got to know you.

For those who knew Nick, know that he loved the Lord. We like to remember when he was a teenager how he used to sing the song As the Deer Panteth for the water so my soul longeth after thee...His soul is now quenched and he is at peace. For those of you who did not know Nick, he was a beautiful, talented, sensitive young man who although troubled at times, he loved the Lord with all of his heart. Nick went through a lot but I know that the Lord has a plan and He was with Nick all of the time. We will always love you Nick. Till we see you in Heaven...He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91 God Bless you, Rest in peace kiddo, gina and mark
