Thursday, August 21, 2008

Children gathered at Mountain Home High School and other schools around the district last Wednesday to register for the upcoming school year.

School starts Aug. 25.

As of Friday, the registration totals for the local schools are; MHHS--706, East Elementary--349, North Elementary--398, West Elementary--390, Hacker Middle School--824, Mountain Home Junior High School 509 and Base Primary--298.

"We tried many things to expedite the process this year and it helped the process go smoother," said Mountain Home School District Superintendant Tim McMurtrey.

"It's mind boggling to see the maturation process in these kids," said Mountain Home High School Principal Jeff Johnson during the Senior registration.

Following registering, here's what was on the minds of the 2008 class of MHHS.

"I got all the classes I wanted and I'm really looking forward to school starting," said junior Tom Hennessey.

"I'm excited for the new school year," said junior Dylan Crockett.

"I'm looking forward to the sports programs this year," said freshman Jake Hennessey.
