Corder in touch with constituents

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

Dear editor:

We hear so many negatives aspects of politicians, lawmakers who are simply out for power and looking to ascend to a higher office. Some politicians use an office to build their own agenda or perhaps support party affiliations but nothing more.

I would like to highlight a politician who actually is constantly in touch with his constituents.

Tim Corder in Mountain Home is one of those politicians in the state senate.

I had a problem recently (and) when I brought it to Sen. Corder's attention, he responded to me thoughtfully, visited with me in person and treated me respectfully and courteously. He took the higher ground and voted to help solve the problems I was facing as a teacher. I know he really listened to me and other teachers as well to find out what the entire problem was before he voted.

In this day and age that's rare, and I appreciate him for it.

I hope other politicians will follow suit, especially in Washington.
