Twin Falls man seeks change, running against Simpson

Twin Falls resident Gregory Nemitz is seeking to upset Rep. Mike Simpson for Idaho's 2nd Congressional District seat.

Nemitz believes there are a few fundamental basic issues that need to be addressed that would create long-lasting benefits for the economy.

He wants to see the reintroduction of competing currencies in America, which would allow state or privately issued money into the marketplace. He said that money would be fundamentally sound from inflation and would create pressure for the federal government to keep federal reserve notes sound from inflation.

He is also against the U.S. joining the North America Union and said he would do anything he could to prevent the U.S. from doing so.

Nemitz said he thinks people are really interested in change.

"Simpson has been in office for 10 years," Nemitz said. "You don't get change if you keep re-electing the same guy again and again. You just give him mandate to keep doing what he's doing."

Nemitz has never held a political office.

He said he got fired up over this year's presidential election, which encouraged him to get involved.

Nemitz said his Internet business, beefjerky.com, doesn't take up too much of his time and that he has the time and energy to peruse a campaign.

His campaign is based on protecting Social Security funds, protecting Idaho's water rights, restoring the economy and ensuring military veterans are properly taken care of.

He said the federal government treats Social Security as a public trust fund that it replaces with IOUs and that it needs to stop.

"Money locked up for Social Security should be used for the sole use of the lawful beneficiaries of the program," Nemitz said.

Prior to lunching his own Internet business, Nemitz was vice president and the chief financial officer for TransOrbital, an aerospace company.

He has also worked as an aerospace consultation, as an electronics and robotics endangering technician and a journeyman election.

Nemitz said he started off working with his hands and is now a successful businessman.

Nemitz first moved to Idaho in 1959 when his father was stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base. His family moved to Germany in 1963. Nemitz return to Idaho in 2006 and now resides in Twin Falls.
