Lady Tiger JV wins district

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers junior varsity softball team capped off a very successful season by winning the District III JV Softball Tournament.

Mtn. Home 11

Emmett 2

A six-run sixth inning broke the game open for Mountain Home as they downed Emmett, 11-2, in JV softball at Mountain Home on April 29.

Modesty Labbe, Carly McMullen and Rachel Warila each had two hits in the win, Warila had an RBI. Amanda Osborn, Megan Kelly, Alex Schmidt, Casey Liercke and Shelby Doerr all had hits, Kelly had two RBIs, Osborn and Schmidt had RBIs. Doerr went the distance for the win, scattering three hits while striking out eight and walking two.

Middleton 2

The Lady Tigers pounded out 18 hits in a 14-2 conference win over Middleton to end the regular season.

Shelby Doerr, who scattered five hits and struck out nine, helped herself out at the plate with four hits and three RBIs.

Modesty Labbe and Amanda Osborn both had three hits, Labbe had five RBIs and scored four runs, Osborn also had an RBI. Hannah Barresi and Alex Schmidt both had two hits. Schmidt scored three runs and had an RBI and Barresi scored two runs. Jennica Quintal, Rachel Warila and Casey Liercke each had a hit. Quintal scored three runs, Warila had an RBI and Liercke a double.

Bishop Kelly 0

Shelby Doerr pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out eight as the Lady Tigers opened District Tournament play with a 3-0 win over Bishop Kelly on May 3.

Modesty Labbe, Amanda Osborn and Megan Kelly each had two hits, Labbe had an RBI. Jennica Quintal, Rachel Warila and Casey Liercke also had hits.

Nampa 3

The Bishop Kelly win put the Lady Tigers in the semi-finals against Nampa, and they scored a run in the sixth inning that proved to be the game-winner, as they beat Nampa, 4-3 on May 3.

Jennica Quintal and Jaclyn Lasuen both had three hits and an RBI, Shelby Doerr had two hits and an RBI. Doerr limited the Lady Bulldogs to just four hits and struck out five. Modesty Labbe also had a hit.

Columbia 3

The Nampa win put the Lady Tigers in the championship game last Monday, and Mountain Home withstood a Lady Wildcat surge in the seventh to pick up the win, 4-3.

Leading 4-2 heading into the seventh, Shelby Doerr struggled a bit in the inning, and with one out and two on, she walked a batter to load the bases, then walked another batter to score a run, but got the next batter to hit a grounder back to her. She tossed it to Lady Tiger catcher Alex Schmidt for one out, and Schmidt threw down to first to get the double play and end the inning and the game.

Jennica Quintal, Modesty Labbe, Amanda Osborn, Carly McMullen and Alex Schmidt all had two hits, Osborn and Schmidt had RBIs. Megan Kelly, Jaclyn Lasuen and Casey Liercke also had hits, Kelly had an RBI. Shelby Doerr gave up just five hits, striking out three and walking five.
