Wednesday, May 7, 2008

A newly remodeled Danskin Boat Launch facility or the South Fork Boise River, made possible in-part by a $13,000 donation from the Boise Valley Fly Fisherman, was recently dedicated by its members, guests and the Mountain Home Ranger District personnel.

The ceremony commemorated the improved launch facility, which includes better parking, a concrete boat ramp, toilets and access to the river.

"The support by their organization helps all recreational boaters who enjoy this popular river for both rafting and fishing," said Larry Tripp, Mountain Home District Ranger.

"Such critical funding by an excellent partner was an important catalyst for completing this project in a timely and economical manner."

The facility is located approximately 25 miles from Mountain Home, It was dedicated in honor of Ken Magee, the first president of the Boise Valley Fly Fisherman club.

"He dedicated his life to the art of fly fishing and conservation of aquatic resources. He loved the South Fork Boise River and surrounding area," said Bill Lloyd, a current member of the organization.

Additional funding was provided by the Bureau of Reclamation, Idaho Department of Fish and Game and the U.S. Forest Service.

"This project is one of many we seek to complete for the enhancement of the recreational public and I appreciate their support to make it possible," Tripp added.

"Partners are becoming a key to completing many of our projects."
