No evacuations needed after ammonia leak

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

An ammonia leak at the WestTom facility on E. 6th South Street Tuesday was contained to the building.

Fire and ambulance crews responded to the report of the leak, and fire crews entered the building to make sure the problem was not life-threatening.

No evacuations of any residences in the area were made. A similar leak last year escaped the building and forced the evacuation of several dozen homes nearby.
