Library will host display of Lincoln history in March

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

The Mountain Home Public Library will host the "Lincoln and Idaho" exhibit in mid-March.

The educational display, which will be at the library for three weeks, is part of the national and state celebration of the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth.

The exact date the display will open has not been determined, yet, but acquiring it is considered a major coup for the local library. The display will fill much of the library. The exhibit, "Forever Free," has been developed in conjunction with the American Library Association and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Due to the appearance of the exhibit, the library has delayed the "Teen and Tech Game Day," originally scheduled for March 8, to April 5.

Storytime at the library will be held today at 3:30 p.m. featuring the book "Mouse's First Valentine," by Laura Thompson. Crafts and treats will accompany the event.

The library will be closed on Monday, Feb. 18, for Presidents' Day, so the next Storytime will not be until Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 3:30 p.m. The story that week will be "Pancakes for Supper," by Anne Issac.

Thursday, Feb. 21, the Library Little Ones program for toddlers and their parents will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the meeting room. In addition to songs and finger plays the staff will read two "Skippy John Jones" books.
