School bond will open opportunities

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Dear editor:

I am writing concerning the upcoming School Bond Election. I believe having this pass will give many new and important opportunities to the students of Mountain Home.

Many think that this is just an election for a new gym and auditorium. This is where they are wrong. In addition to those, there will also be a whole new academic wing built, providing more room for classrooms such as Art, Science, and Family and Consumer Sciences. We need this just like we need a competitive gym for sporting events and an auditorium for the performing arts and guest speakers.

Having a place to meet together as a team is important in bringing the school and community together as a team. It is also important that the Drama, Choir, and Band classes have a place to practice and perform. We have a great program for the performing arts and it would be really nice if there was a place equally as nice for them to perform in.

We have excellent teachers and faculty here in Mountain Home and I believe it is just as important to them to have a facility that gives them the space and the room to teach.

In addition, this bond will alleviate crowding at Hacker as well as the high school, improving the student's ability to learn and the teachers' ability to teach.
