Hospital did a great job for grandson, nurses, doctors deserve high praise

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Dear editor:

I just wanted to let the community of Mountain Home know how impressed I was with the delivery and care of my grandson born here in Elmore Medical Center.

I know there has been a lot of negativity about our hospital here, but I have to disagree. The mother was a high-risk patient and the baby was a little distressed but the staff was wonderful. Nurses were in the room at least every 15 minutes; the physicians checked in often. We were never left in the dark about what was going on and what would happen next.

I would recommend our hospital to anyone for newborn babies. Our physicians here are very good and caring for the mother and baby. You receive a lot of one-on-one care, which you would not get in Boise hospitals.

Please re-think about having your babies born here in town instead of going to Boise where you may be one of 20-30 or more patients delivering babies. You want your baby to have the best care and that happens right here at Elmore Medical Center.

I would imagine the same goes for any other patient admitted to the hospital here. Why would you want to go anywhere else? Elmore Medical Centers staff treat you like an individual whereas bigger hospitals don't have the time or the staff to spend individual time with you.

The hospital needs more room for patients and medical equipment to properly take care of the increasing population. I, for one will be sure to vote "yes" at the next bond election. I have seen for myself how much our nurses, physicians and other staff members work to take care of their patients.
