Earlier in the week they lost at Vallivue.

The Lady Tigers ran into a buzz saw last Tuesday night at Vallivue, losing to the 5A power Lady Falcons 63-36.

Vallivue forced 11 Mountain Home turnovers in the first quarter alone on their way to a 26-6 lead. Vallivue led 45-13 at the half.

"A team like that definitely exposes your weaknesses," said Lady Tiger girls basketball coach Brent Keener after the game. "As I've said from the get-go, one of our biggest weaknesses is ball-handling, and we couldn't even get in our offense the first half because we couldn't handle the ball.

"Losing Dakota (Barrie) early and having to sit Frannie (Hale) the first half, that was tough."

Dakota Barrie went down with a knee injury early in the game. Coach Keener did not know the extent of the injury after the game. "I don't really know at this point. Her knee is loose -- hopefully, it's a bruised knee and not torn."

Emily Moranda scored eight points in the fourth quarter to finish the night with 10 points to lead the Lady Tigers in scoring.

Chantell Crane added nine, Brandie Riggs, seven, Francesca Hale, six, and Angie Rios and Shelby Posey both scored two.

Wood River 34

Mountain Home shot out to an early lead at Wood River Friday night and never looked back in downing the Lady Wolverines 49-34 to pick up their first win of the season.

The Lady Tigers shot out to a 13-4 first-quarter lead, and were up, 23-12 at halftime. Mountain Home led 36-24 heading into the fourth quarter, and won going away, 49-34.

"It definitely was very nice," said Coach Keener after the Wood River win. "We had a good start and kind of went from there. The second half was a little more even by both teams, but we were able to build the lead early."

Mountain Home had three girls score in double figures, led by Emily Moranda and Chantell Crane with 13 apiece. Moranda brought down 13 rebounds to record a double-double. Hannah Zamora added 10 points, Francesca Hale had five, Brandie Riggs, four, Rebecca Wroten, three, and Shalamar Enriquez, one.

The Lady Tigers opened conference play last night at Bishop Kelly. They host Wood River next Monday night in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium, travel to Nampa in conference play on Nov. 28, and host Jerome in an afternoon game (2 p.m.) on Dec. 1.
