U14 boys post win as season winds down

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

The final league games for Mountain Home Youth Soccer competitive teams were played on Saturday, with the U14 Boys posting the only win on the day.

"This was the best team game of the year for us," Coach Rob Daniels said. "I would especially like to commend our defense that allowed only two shots on goal the whole game."

The boys defeated Kuna 7-0 with goals provided by Gustavo Martinez, Tyler Brennan, Mike Daniels, Brent Sexauer and Sterling Adamson.

Defenders Tyler Casey, Trey Breslin, Abi Ayala, Gustavo Martinez and sweeper Mike Daniels held Kuna in check the entire game, enabling keeper Tomas Guillen to earn the shutout victory.

The U12 Boys had the initial advantage over their opponent on Austin Lee's first half goal but could not hold off a second half surge by the Boise Capitals, losing 3-1. Coach Curtis Viall said "our keepers, Riley Adams and Kaleb Stevens, played well in the match but the cold early morning temperatures and strong shots from the physically larger Capitals players proved a bit too much for us."

Glenn's Ferry U11 Girls also scored first on their opponent as Anna Orr found the back of the net early. Middleton Gold came on strong in the second half, putting in 4 unanswered goals to defeat the Co-Pilots 4-1.

Game results for the U13 Boys and U14 Girls losses were unavailable at press time.

Registration for the spring season will begin at the end of November. Dates and times will be announced later.
