Letter to the Editor

Mitch Prouty a man of honesty, integrity

Wednesday, October 31, 2007

Dear editor:

I am writing this letter in support of Mitch Prouty for city council.

I have known Mitch for more than 30 years. I can testify to his honesty, integrity, values and willingness to work for the community. Mitch has volunteered in the community in many ways, and I have been personally affected by a couple of them.

Mitch and I have been coaching youth football for several years, he as the head coach and I as the assistant coach. In the years we have been coaching these young men, the principles Mitch has impressed upon them are: be a good person, a good family member and a good student.

If you apply yourself to these things you will be a better athlete. What a positive message for the young men of this community to hear, a message that challenges the young men in our town to have integrity.

The other involves my daughter. A few years back she fell out of my truck, my wife scooped her up quickly to take her to the hospital, and concerned neighbors called the police.

After seeing the vehicle speed away, the police department called out volunteer fire fighters, including Mitch Prouty, to search for the vehicle. After a few hours the situation was worked out, and I was able to thank some members of our fire department.

Mitch Prouty humbly accepted my thanks and replied, " No thanks needed. I am just glad, I could help." In a sentence, that's Mitch Prouty, and that's why I support him for city council.
