Absentee ballots now available for city hall elections on Nov. 6

Wednesday, October 24, 2007

Voters will go to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 6, to cast ballots in the city elections.

The mayor's position and two open council posts are open.

For city council, voters will cast ballots for two candidates. The two who earn the most votes, not necessarily a majority, will be elected.

Four council candidates are on the ballot, none of them incumbents. The four are: Geoff Schroeder, Albert Clement, Russ Anderson and Mitch Prouty. In addition, C.D. Houston filed papers just before yesterday's deadline to seek election as a write-in candidate.

For the mayor's race, Councilman Tom Rist is challenging incumbent Mayor Joe B. McNeal.

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The only voting location is at the city library.

Absentee voting is available at city hall from now until 5 p.m. on Nov. 5.
