Letter to the Editor

Prouty would be best

Wednesday, October 10, 2007

Dear editor:

I have served with Mitch Prouty for a number of years on the Mountain Home Volunteer Fire Department. During this time I have been fortunate to get to know him from many different sides.

As a second generation firefighter, Mitch approaches firefighting with pride, enthusiasm, strength and wisdom. From early on Mitch was a mentor working to build the strongest team possible. Mitch is always willing to lend a hand on even the worst jobs and does so in a pleasant manner while possessing the ability to work with anyone.

Mitch knows when to listen and when to act, a trait that is important as a leader and as a team member.

Mitch has proven to be a problem solver. The fire department is not called when things are going well, they are called to solve a problem. Despite the serious nature of firefighting, Mitch helps to add balance with a good natured sense of humor that is tastefully employed at just the right time.

Mitch is well suited to serve as a city councilman. His balanced personality and skill set will be of great value to our city. Mitch has demonstrated that he can approach a problem with an open mind, actively listen and make an informed and carefully thought-out decision.

Once a path is chosen, Mitch has the integrity and character to follow through but is not so high minded that he is not open to input as the situation evolves.

What a refreshing change that would be.

As a Mountain Home native and prospering business owner Mitch has roots to our past heritage but knows what must be done in the coming years.

Mitch has often talked of giving back to his home community. He coaches youth teams, and volunteers with the firefighters, but a council position is what he was made for.

Mitch is a person that I want on my team, especially when the stakes are high.
