The Mountain Home Tigers beat Columbia and lost to Bishop Kelly last week in boys conference soccer.

Tigers 6

Columbia 0

The Tigers hosted Columbia last Tuesday and shut out the Wildcats 6-0 at Eastside Park.

Bryan Walsh scored two goals for the Tigers, and Christian Adamson, Daniel Snelgrow, Walter Schmidt and Logan Whitney also scored goals. Daniel Snelgrow had two assists, and Bryan Walsh and Raif Armstrong also had assists.

Christian Figueroa had nine saves on goal in the shutout.

"It was a great win," said Tiger boys soccer coach Paul Walsh. "We started out a little slow, but the kids really hung in there. I was really proud of the way they played. We really included our midfield for a change. We've kind of been sending the ball over those guys, and they really slowed it down some and really worked on the midfield with our forwards, and in the second half, they really did an awesome job of working together."

The Tigers battled the Knights tough at Bishop Kelly last Thursday, winning everywhere but on the scoreboard, which showed Bishop Kelly winning, 1-0.

The Knights goal came early in the second half, and the Tigers had numerous shots on goal, but could not get any to drop in for them.

"That was an awesome game," said Coach Walsh of the Bishop Kelly game. "I feel like we really controlled the game. They got their goal on a direct kick. Christian (Figueroa), he just missed it. He went up to push it away and it went -- not through his hands -- I don't know if he misjudged it or what, but he was right there. I thought he was going to have it but it ended up in the corner. He felt really bad about that, but I told him, 'Hey, Christian, you had seven other saves!'

"It was just a great game and we really controlled almost the entire game. That's the second time we've played them to a 1-0 loss and pretty much controlled the games, so we've just got to figure out how to put it in the back of the net. We had plenty of chances!"

The Tigers, 5-6-3 overall and 4-6-2 in league play, close out their regular season schedule this week. They hosted Nampa yesterday for Senior Night, and travel to Kuna today. The district tourney starts Monday at Bishop Kelly and Middleton.
