Hall heads to Packer's training camp

Glenns Ferry native and former Pilots football star Korey Hall has flown to Green Bay, Wisconsin for the start of the Fall Camp with the Packers on July 27.

Hall, a 2002 Glenns Ferry High School graduate and a December 2006 graduate of Boise State University, was drafted in the sixth round by the Green Bay Packers.

Hall, who was a two-time Defensive Player of the Year in the Western Athletic Conference at linebacker, is being looked at for special teams and fullback with the Packers.

"Realistically, as a first year player, hopefully, I'll be like a special teams type of guy," said Korey. "I don't know if I'll end up getting the starting fullback roll or not. Hopefully, I'll straighten all that out in training camp, but that (fullback) is definitely something I've been looking forward to."

Hall played on the special teams at Boise State, but hasn't played fullback since his high school years.

"I feel comfortable coming in as a special teams player, as I played special teams at Boise State for four years, and that part of it I feel pretty comfortable coming in. The fullback is definitely going to be a transition for me. I haven't played on the offensive side of the ball since high school, so that'll be tough, but hopefully, I'll be able to work myself into a starting position there."

Hall attended a mini-camp with the Packers in May and thought that went well for him.

"I think everything went all right. It was definitely a transition starting out. It was tough just more than even learning the play book or offense, but just getting all the footwork down and the timing and all the technical parts of playing fullback. If I can get that down, I think I should have a chance to compete for the position anyway."

Hall looks for the Packers to be better than they were last year, and hopes to be a big part of it.

"They're definitely a young team. I think they're going to be a lot tougher this year than they were last year. I thought last year their special teams, they were a little below par, but they've done a lot of stuff and brought a lot of guys in to try and help improve there. I think both offensively and defensively they're a solid football team, and just kind of in between the lines is where they're going to have to improve a few of those little things like special teams, and if they can do that, I think we're going to be tough."

Hall is capturing his experience in training camp with a blog that can be accessed from the home page of the Green Bay Packers at www.packers.com.

The training camp schedule and the regular season game schedule can also be found on their site.
