Sol'Jibe will be the first band to perform in the summer concert series that starts Thursday.

Mountain Home Parks and Recreation has teamed up again this year with the Mountain Home Arts Council to bring back the "Jump'N'Jive Summer Concert Series."

The event features area bands performing in Carl Miller Park while those attending the free concerts bring their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the music.

The concerts will be held from 6-8 p.m. on select Thursdays during July and August at Carl Miller Park, with a final concert on Saturday, Aug. 18. Food and drinks will be available from select vendors at the park during each concert.

The Summer Concert Series will kick off on Thursday, July 12, with Sol'Jibe.

Sol'Jibe is a band "quickly rising to stardom and independently gaining national exposure," organizers of the concert series said. "Their first album, "On Your Feet," has already sold thousands of copies around the United States, leading to a highly anticipated live sophomore album, "Marinero."

"Their sound is composed of acoustic rock, flamenco, and world-influenced rhythms that are derived by the expressive vocals and violin of Snider and the passionate guitar stylings of Merlos," the sponsors said.

"This combination conveys songs of depth and intensity -- a cultural blend of different worlds that artistically maintains its identity."

"Music is universal," said Milton Merlos of Sol'Jibe. "Our dream is to experience every musical opportunity possible throughout our lifetimes, in the idea that it may bring people culturally closer in harmony."

That attitude has developed partnerships by attracting other musicians with the same ideals. Other artists such as world Afro-fused style percussionist Cody Remaklus and Jazz-studied soprano saxophonist Jonathan Philips contribute to Sol'Jibe's diverse flavor, the concert series sponsors said.

The Summer Concert series will continue with "Latin Fire" on July 26, B-3 Sides on Aug. 9, and will conclude with the Band of the Golden West on Aug. 18.

The Jump'N'Jazz Concert Series is sponsored by Mountain Home Parks and Recreation the Mountain Home Arts Council, Idaho Commission on the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, select Mountain Home businesses and contributions from local citizens.
