Downtown roadwork will cause delays

Wednesday, July 11, 2007

Road work will have downtown Mountain Home congested through Friday.

Work on North 2nd East Street and North Main Street, the business loop of Mountain Home, began Monday, July 9, and is expected to last through Friday, July 13.

The full width of the roads, including the shoulders, are being chip sealed and seal coated by the Idaho Transportation Department.

Work starts on both streets at the railroad underpass. On North Main Street construction ends at McMurtry Road, and on Second East Street construction ends at Albertson's. Speed reductions will be in effect.

The business loop is the first phase in the project, and once it is completed the second phase of the project will begin on I-84 from milepost 60 to milepost 71 (Isaac's Canyon to Mayfield).

Work on both eastbound and westbound lanes on I-84 will begin on Monday, July 16, and is expected to last all week through Friday, July 20.

The sections under construction will remain open, but speed reductions will be in affect and intermittent lane reductions will occur.

Road work also is currently being done on US 20. Repaving of the highway is being done between milepost 112.9 and milepost 124.6.

The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph and 45mph at specific work zones. There will be intermittent lane reductions to one lane. That project is expected to be finished in early August.
