Raymond E. Ashby, 83, of Bruneau, died Monday, April 23, 2007, at a Nampa care center.

At his request, no services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Rost Funeral Home, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.

"This is a tribute to my husband who has held my heart and my trust for 56 years. Our time together was full of events; work and play, adventure and travels, traumas and blessings, tears and laughter, sickness and health and always partners," his wife said.

Ray's life came full circle, from a ranch in Riddle, to a 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force, to a successful construction business in Bruneau and back to a ranch in the Owyhee Mountains.

"Throughout his 83 years, Ray's work and accomplishments have earned him respect and admiration not only from his family, but also from those who have come to know him," his wife said. "This pride and dedication to ones work has passed on to his sons, Henry and Scott, and to his daughter, Henrietta, who had become a devoted caregiver to her father during his last few years at home. Our three children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren will not forget the special, proud and generous man who did his very best for all of us. We loved him and we thank him....We will go on with the legacy he left us, in the belief that we never really lose the ones we love for they will live on in our hearts," she said.
