The Mountain Home Lady Tigers dropped conference girls basketball games to Bishop Kelly and Emmett last week.

Mtn. Home 30

The Lady Knights rolled to a 22-2 first quarter lead to put the game away early last Thursday night at Bishop Kelly.

"We ran into a buzz saw tonight, and sometimes that happens," said Coach Brian English after the game.

"We had moments we looked like we knew what we were doing, other times we looked like we didn't. That's just part of of growing up, and we ran into a real good team tonight. It's tough to lose by 30, but you can't worry about that, you've got to move on and learn from it."

Ashley Kipp led the Lady Tigers in scoring with eight points.

Chantell Crane scored six points, Jessica Egusquiza, five, Dani Dean, four, Emily Moranda, three, Brandie Riggs and Sammy Dodge both had two.

A scoreless third quarter did the Lady Tigers in Saturday afternoon in Lloyd Schiller Gymnasium, as the Lady Tigers lost to Emmett 51-33.

Neither team could find the basket in the first quarter, as the score was tied at 4-4 after eight minutes.

The second quarter saw the lead go back and forth, with Dani Dean hitting a basket in the closing seconds to put the Lady Tigers up 23-22 at halftime.

Then came the scoreless third quarter, as Emmett built up a 32-23 lead. The Lady Tigers would go over 11 minutes without scoring, and by then trailed 41-23.

Mountain Home managed to cut the deficit to 13 points, but could get no closer, losing 51-33.

"We played a great first half," said Coach English, but you can't win when you score no points in a quarter. We had a terrible second half and too many turnovers again. They turned up the pressure and we didn't handle it. We've got to learn from that and move on."

Chantell Crane led the Lady Tigers in scoring with nine points.

Dani Dean added six, Brandie Riggs, Jessica Egusquiza and Emily Moranda all had five points, Ashley Kipp, two, and Sammy Dodge, one.

The Lady Tigers fell to 4-8 in conference play and 7-11 overall.

They were at Middleton last night,(Tuesday), and close out their regular season schedule at home tomorrow (Thursday) night for Senior Night against Nampa.

The district tournament starts Jan. 31.
