A C-17 waits on the ramp to carry cargo for a deployment of base personnel to the Mideast.

A major deployment from Mountain Home Air Force Base took place on Monday that sent approximately 250 airmen to various bases in the Persian Gulf area of Southwest Asia.

Another 50 airmen departed from Boise International Airport on Sunday.

The personnel from four different squadrons are part of a larger group of nearly 1,100 "Gunfighters" that have been deploying since late last year in support of the Global War on Terrorism.

The squadrons include the 391st Fighter Squadron, 366th Component Maintenance Squadron, 366th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, and the 366th Equipment Maintenance Squadron.

The airmen are expected to serve a standard four months as part of a scheduled deployment rotation.

The personnel were transported to their destination by a large charteded aircraft while their cargo was transported by a C-17 Globemaster III cargo plane.
