Lady Tigers defeat Wood River

The Mountain Home Lady Tigers snapped a three-game losing skid with a 45-39 non-conference girls basketball win over Wood River last Tuesday night at Wood River.

The game was tied at 8-8, after a quarter, but Mountain Home shot ahead in the second quarter for a 24-17 half-time lead.

The Lady Tigers kept Wood River at bay in the second half, and hung on for a 45-39 win.

"We played a real good game," said Lady Tiger coach Brian English. "We played good defense and really used our press to great effectiveness against Wood River, and came away with a win."

Emily Moranda paced the Lady Tigers with a season high 17 points. Jessica Egusquiza scored seven points and led the team with six steals. Ashley Kipp and Hannah Zamora both added four points, Brandie Riggs netted three, Sheena Nelsen, Dani Dean, Alyssa Salzgaber, Chantell Crane and Sammy Dodge each had two points.

The Lady Tigers improved to 5-8 on the season with the win, and are off for the holidays, returning to action Jan. 4 at Nampa.
