Girls soccer team stumbles in bid for state

Wednesday, October 18, 2006

The soccer season came to a disappointing end for the Mountain Home Lady Tigers at the District III 4A girls soccer tourney at Bishop Kelly last week.

Skyview 3

Mtn. Home 2

After opening district play with a 2-0 win over Kuna, the Lady Tigers faced Skyview in the semi-finals last Tuesday. The Lady Hawks had taken two close games from Mountain Home, and Tuesday was no different, the Lady Tigers coming up short, 3-2.

Shianna Hawley and Jessica Hendershot scored Mountain Home's goals. Savannah Lopez had 19 saves on goal.

Nampa 0 (4)

Mtn. Home 0 (3)

The Skyview loss put Mountain Home in a loser-out game against Nampa last Wednesday. The Lady Tigers had swept Nampa during the regular season, but this one was a battle right down to the wire. The teams battled to a scoreless tie after regulation.

Two overtime periods also failed to produce any goals, so that meant a shoot-out, and Nampa ended up getting four goals to three for Mountain Home to win and advance.

The Lady Tigers finish their season 12-7-1.
