Boys soccer defeats Jerome

The Mountain Home Tigers boys soccer team picked up their first win of the young season last Friday when they won at Jerome.

The Tigers dropped a home match to Skyview earlier in the week, and had their home match against Emmett postponed because of the air quality alert.

The Skyview Hawks scored twice in the first half to take a 2-0 lead and the Mountain Home Tigers were unable to make up the deficit in the second half, losing 3-1, at Eastside Park in Mountain Home last Tuesday.

"That first half wasn't as good as we were hoping for," said Mountain Home Tiger boys soccer coach Paul Walsh. "For some reason we have a real hard time getting going in the first half. We come out and play real well in the second half every game, but we gave up two goals (in the first half) and it's just hard to come back from that. We've got to find a fix for that -- the first half blues."

Brian Walsh scored Mountain Home's goal in the second half off an assist by Kyle Hall. Josh Lindsay had 10 saves on goal before leaving with an injury in the second half. Jaime Rios had three saves.

The Tigers traveled down to Jerome on Friday and came home with a 1-0 shutout. Eric Weiss scored the only goal in the game, off an assist by Zach Waters. Josh Lindsay had seven sales on goal for the Tigers, who improved to 1-4-1 on the season.

The Tigers were at Columbia on Monday, and travel to Bishop Kelly Thursday.
